Learning styles
When talking about re-wiring your brain I speak in the term of learning, because essentially that is what is going on. When you re-wire your brain you are giving it new information to learn. Thus understanding your dominant learning styles is going to help you learn and perform much quicker and easier.
There are four main learning styles: Visual, Auditory, kinaesthetic and reading/writing.
Many people are a mixture of these four main learning styles however there are more lesser known learning styles that may be just as helpful to understand about yourself.
Logical/analytical, social/linguistic, solo and nature learners are four examples of these lesser known learning styles. I myself already know I am a kinaesthetic and reading/writing learner but along side those I am a solo learner and logical/analytical learner, which is why I very often give representative synonyms when I am explaining concepts to other people. My brain logically analyses and connects things in this way. Once my brain understands a concept in a way that it connects to something else representative I have truly learned and understood the concept. I also find information is easier to retain if received one to one opposed to a large group of people, in general I find conversations one to one easier than a large group of people. So mixing logic, solo with reading/writing and kinaesthetic learning is going to give me optimal learning.
I also have the opinion that we may have different learning styles for different types of skills.
example: For myself to learn a physical activity such as Brazillian jujitsu I would need complete tactile learning along side auditory instructions, If I were to read or write about different positions of jujitsu I'd be completely lost, but to learn subject concepts such as how the brain works reading and writing with logical and analytical thinking with one person at a time gives me optimal learning. If I wish to teach my brain and body to respond differently to situations I learn best through feeling and visuals and a little auditory aid.
So really when observing myself it appears to me that it is not just about what learning style you use but what learning style for what type of skill.
So then rounding back to re-wiring your brain from trauma or negative thinking understanding how you learn new ways of responding and thinking is going to help you re-wire your brain as optimally as possible. This should always be discussed and done with professionals and never on your own as you wouldn't want to cause yourself unnecessary emotional harm.
An example of people who re-wire their brain to think more lovingly and positively about themselves is affirmations. Youtube is full of 1- 8 hour long affirmation tapes that people will fall asleep to with 1000s if not more comments of improved thinking and behaviours, yet there are many who find no or minimal help from these affirmation tapes. The conclusion I have is that it lies in how a persons brain optimally learns new information. Those that don't find any difference in these tapes even after listening to them for months clearly do not learn to think or behave more positively towards themselves auditorally.
Another example are those that have daily visuals about themselves and their behaviours, people (like myself) who go into their imagination and create a picture to represent how they want to think or act. Other people script about themselves or their lives or simply write things down. Other people create vision boards or have positive reminders that they can visually see like a phone background picture.
Looking up different types of manifesting techniques can give you a lot of ideas on how to learn these new things you want for yourself around your mental health. While manifesting is often mostly spoken about receiving physical things the techniques that people use can easily be modified to learning self love, healthier coping mechanisms and over all healthier self and world concept. However I must put a disclaimer here that I heavily advice you research manifesting for different learning styles and try not to lose yourself down the rabbit hole of the manifesting community. For those with fragile mental health issues that community can potentially cause you more harm than good. So please do heed that warning!
If that is not clear enough, a lot of the manifesting community may talk about you having attracted bad experiences to you and cause you to feel more shame and guilt for things you did not do. It is a toxic side of the community I do not recommend to anyone let alone someone suffering with mental health! However, there are a lot of good articles around manifesting and learning styles that are extremely useful when modifying for health of the mind, and hey if we really can manifest anything as they say, why wouldn't you want to try manifesting good mental health?
